Innovation and Research
Dr. Fulmes’ commitment to expanding his knowledge and skills has resulted in many innovations. He patented a unique wound dressing for the prevention of surgical site infections (SSI). He has made a multitude of outstanding contributions to the field of medicine, including numerous specialized publications, research, and presentations.
Dr. Fulmes developed a new technique of treating anal fissures without cutting the sphincter muscle. This minimally invasive, outpatient-based procedure is faster and much less complicated than more traditional surgical technique, a sphincterotomy. In addition, it can be performed right here in our office instead of the hospital, making your experience more pleasant, less stressful, and less costly.
Patients who are treated in this manner also recover faster, with little to no pain afterward.
In addition, Dr. Fulmes improved existing methods for pain control during surgical procedures to the degree that most patients experience minimal pain and some of them do not even require painkillers after the procedure.
His practice is unique because it combines traditional medical procedures with alternative methods, such as ozone therapy, vibration, colonics, herbs, and essential oils for faster results and to help stabilize a patient’s medical condition with minimal side effects. (Please note that some services are under development and will be provided within a year.) He has a special interest in and has developed improved methodology for post-operative pain control. Dr. Fulmes’ methods have been welcomed at conferences of the international healthcare community.
Dr. Fulmes is devoted to ensuring the long-term health of his patients and developing long-lasting relationships with them. He believes that a healthy gastrointestinal system is key to good overall health. Dr. Fulmes takes his time to understand patient symptoms and provides accurate diagnoses to ensure a continued recovery. Dr. Fulmes is focused on preventive measures and treats patients using a comprehensive, profound approach to their well-being. Dr. Fulmes understands the importance of networking within the healthcare industry, so he regularly shares his experiences with the international community and is open to feedback and collaborations with his peers.
Our Philosophy of Care
We believe that moral laws and spirituality play a pivotal role in achieving a healthy, balanced life. The gastrointestinal tract is important too, because it affects all your organs and overall health, allowing you to properly digest food, extract nutrients, and eliminate waste. It’s just one reason why what you consume – food and drinks – is so important. What’s more, there is evidence that disease begins in the GI tract.
Our philosophy of care at Health Institute is not just to treat disease and alleviate your symptoms, but to help you develop healthy habits and prevent future problems. We do this by using a variety of interventions that can correct imbalances and allow your body the opportunity to heal itself. Our medical and surgical treatments cause the least amount of disruption to the body possible – meaning less pain and a faster recovery for you. With us, you won’t receive a surgery recommendation if there are other ways to improve your condition. The key priority for Dr. Fulmes is always your health and well-being.
At Dr. Fulmes Health Institute in the New York metropolitan region, our goals are threefold:
To treat patients with colorectal diseases.
To help people participate in the process of healing themselves and creating healthy habits.
To bring attention to the fact that the gastrointestinal system is the key to good health, and help people to strengthen, reset, and rejuvenate their GI function.
How Our Care Packages Can Help You
We have created four basic colorectal care packages, depending on your health, goals, and current situation:
1. Stay Healthy, Naturally
This healthcare package is for adults who are generally healthy and interested in preventive care. You get a consultation with the doctor, physician assistant, or nutritionist to determine which alternative medicine therapies might be right for you.
2. Resolve Mild But Nagging GI Symptoms
Those with mild or occasional gastrointestinal complaints, such as constipation, bloating, or indigestion, will benefit from this healthcare package. You get a consultation with the doctor, physician assistant, or nutritionist who will recommend medication or other treatment options, along with pertinent alternative medicine therapies, depending on your needs.
3. Treat Potentially Serious GI Symptoms
If you are experiencing serious or alarming GI or rectal symptoms, we can help. You get a consultation with Dr. Fulmes (with or without a physician referral). This includes performance of in-office treatments during the initial visit, if needed. It also includes a recommendation for appropriate alternative medicine therapies.
4. Immediate Treatment for Those in Acute Pain
For those with severe anal or rectal pain or bleeding, we can provide the immediate, acute care and treatment you need. You get a consultation with Dr. Fulmes (with or without a physician referral), including the appropriate in-office procedure as dictated by your condition. If Dr. Fulmes is unavailable at the moment you require care, do not wait to receive medical attention – instead, please call 911 or visit the nearest emergency room.
